Chip Info
Game Boy Color, the Pocket was much like the original, but smaller- still in black and white (instead of black and green) The game boy color on the other hand is a nice size, really easy to find. Apr 27, 2011 Seeing as the only Gameboy I have every owned was the color, I am currently thinking of either the original Gameboy,Pocket, or light. Is the price difference of the light worth it and will units from Japan play US games. What are your thoughts on the Original. In the community of Game Boy modding, the bivert modification has been a staple when improving the quality and clarity of the Game Boy Original (DMG). Many think that this modification is not necessary with the Game Boy Pocket (MGB) due to the increased resolution of the LCD itself; a noticeable improvement of the DMG.

Game Boy DMG-01 Capacitor List
A quick note on replacing capacitors: there are a few caps on the LCD board that require removal of the LCD module to desolder. For those caps, I would not attempt to remove the LCD module, instead I would cut the leads as close to the old capacitor body as possible and solder the replacement parts to the old legs. The LCD modules are known for developing bad connections, so you probably don't want to aggravate the LCD during the capacitor replacement process.
